How Popular Are You?

When Groucho Marx quipped, "I'd never join a club that would have me as a member," it was a funny way of saying that his self-esteem was at zero level. Fortunately, most of us are not in this category and have enough good feelings about ourselves to be reasonably happy.

One powerful means of gaining self-esteem is through social acceptance. It's like getting a vote of confidence from others about our value. In a way, others validate our sense of worth.

Psychologists find that those who are popular are "middle-of-the-roaders" who strongly accept the attitudes and ideas of their group; they are not extremists in their thinking. Further, they have the social skills to form mature and lasting relationships with others. The following quiz will suggest how well you get along with people and/or if you have the potential to boost your social skills.
